Ron Isley is no stranger to making charts beat. After getting folks out of their seats with the classic partystarter “Shout” with his band of brothers, famously known as the Isley Brothers, the singer/songwriter continues to craft melodies for the love of it.
With the release of his new album This Song Is For You in stores today, Ron soothes with his silky tenor, especially on the lead single “Dinner and a Movie,” wooing the ladies with experienced yet effortless suave.
For his latest project, Ron also recruits baby-faced crooner Trey Songz, who he claims to have known before he grew out of his cornrows. “I knew him when he first started … He wrote a song that I did with Patti LaBelle, “Just Came Here To Chill’ and that was a big, big song,” he recalls. “Trey Songz was just getting started then and I said ‘One day. I’ll do a song with you’ and that was about three or four years ago … He wrote [the song we did] and when I heard it, I said that’s it.”
While the artist also known as Mr. Biggs says there won’t be any complementary bars, he did hint at a possible collaboration with Rick Ross on “The Boss.” He says that he has reached out the MMG leader and that fans can expect a remix to drop soon. “It’ll be down the line a little but it’ll be out,” he says.
