Ben Carson Says He Was Held At Gunpoint While At A Popeyes Restaurant

Republican Presidential Candidate Ben Carson has come under sharp criticism after what some deem to be dismissive and insensitive comments made in the wake of the mass shooting at Umpqua Community College in Oregon.

Carson feeling the sting of his “I would not just stand there and let him shoot me” remarks, recalls a time when he was held at gunpoint at a Baltimore Popeyes restaurant. During an interview with Sirius XM Wednesday (October 8) Carson claims to have kept his cool throughout the ordeal.

“I have had a gun held on me when I was in a Popeye’s,” Carson  said. “[A] guy comes in, put the gun in my ribs, and I just said, ‘I believe that you want the guy behind the counter.’ “

Carson says the bandit than apologized an targeted the employee who gave him the money and left the fast-food restaurant before the cops arrived.

The resolution was, he said, ‘Oh, sorry’ and then he went to the appropriate person behind the register who gave him the money, and he left the store running before the police got there,” he said.

The former neurosurgeon said despite coming face-to-face with a gunman, he wasn’t the least bit scared.

“I wasn’t fearful for my life at all. I knew why he was there.”
